Cold weather really puts me in the cooking mood. I found this Apple Crisp recipe on Smitten Kitchen and she suggests making it for breakfast, which is such a genius idea. What could be more comforting than warm apple crisp first thing in the morning when it's cold outside?

She only uses 3 tablespoons of sugar so that helps keep it more in the breakfast category. The recipe does call for an entire stick of butter, but I only used 5 tablespoons to keep it lighter. It turned out delicious. I also found peeling apples quite calming.
